about

One of two thrilling death metal tracks on the album, Cathedral of Suicide (also known as Jisatsu no Taisedō) portrays a story in the style of "found folklore" based on inspiration from Japanese mythology.

The story is of a shinigami (a goddess of death in this case) named Kikurushi, a mysterious woman with long white hair who is clad in lavender knight armor and wields a crimson blade named Mibōjin-no-Namida-Hanketsu (literally: Widow's Tears Judgment), made of the tears of war widows (those who lost their husbands in war despite the fact that they promised to return).

The story of Cathedral of Suicide is that Kikurushi sits in the eponymous location, upon a skeletal throne adorned in ashen roses and lilies, with vines of thorns wrapped around it. Kikurushi lies surrounded by the countless bodies of widows who, in grief, committed suicide. She lies in wait for Izanagi (somewhat a Queen of the underworld, known as Yomi), her mistress (as in female master) to give her permission to resurrect the dead soldiers who were the husbands of the now-perished widows so that she can hunt them to death and avenge the spirits of the widows, wrought with grief and anger.

The song ends right as Kikurushi has resurrected the dead husbands and is about to start the hunt.
